Seeking Medium Fans!

I am seeking assistance with my PhD dissertation research and seeking regular viewers of CSI, Medium, Heroes and Numb3rs, ONLY!

We, at Columbia University, Teachers College are attempting a research study involving complex primetime television and its direct/indirect effects on the knowledge of avid viewers. We feel that if viewers participate in our survey, it would likely benefit the cognitive research community in the future. Below is a brief description of the intended research. This project feels television affects viewers in a positive way. We would like to determine any differences within certain network shows.

PRIMETIME SHOWS: A STUDY OF POP-CULTURE'S EFFECT ON COGNITIVE SKILLS

This is an attempt to study the effects of television on cognitive skills and content learning, with programs presenting material related to mathematics, science & problem solving. Data will be collected from participants who view one of the four prime time television shows: all CSI shows, Medium, Heroes and Numb3ers. This study hopes to indicate the realm of television may relate to a viewerÂ’s cognitive processing. Subjects may also not be aware they are learning or challenging their thinking with more complicated programming. Programming is more complex today and there is a need for empirical evidence to determine if this theory is true. A series of tests will attempt to understand these research questions.
__________________________
We theorize subjects may GAIN some knowledge or skills by watching these programs. We simply want to measure problem-solving abilities and overall intelligence. Our surveys/tests are online and will be kept confidential. All participants will be entered in a drawing for the latest season of DVDs from one of the four shows as a form of compensation. NOTE: The entire survey will take around 40 minutes or less to complete in two (2) separate sections. Sections may be completed at different times, but subjects must COMPLETE EACH SINGLE SECTION in ONE SITTING! To complete the second section, subjects will be emailed web links from either primetime.television.survey@gmail.com or Pearson Testing Services within 24 to 48 hrs.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this email. If you have any questions about this research, please feel free to contact primetime.television.survey@gmail.com.

Thanks for your help!
